To the 7 Cities Crafters:

After much deliberation and deep thought, we have decided to cancel Handmade Parade this year. I wanted to let you guys know as soon as possible so you wouldn’t be surprised if you noticed changes on the website. Those of you who applied will get a separate email with details about your application fee refund so watch for that.

We are sorry for the last-minute change in plans, especially to those of you who came to the meeting the other night and were willing to pitch in your time and effort. But after really crunching some numbers last night we’ve decided between the situation with the economy this year, getting a late start in planning, one of our most active members moving away and my own part in taking a backseat in planning this year, we were going to run into some serious financial difficulties. We decided the best plan would be to call it off this year and make next year’s REALLY special. I think we should start planning in earnest next summer and I know that I’ll be more inclined to want to help run a big event next year (since I’ve already planned a wedding this year I just didn’t feel like running another big event like Handmade Parade – one was enough!).

So now that we have our schedule freed up for this fall/winter, I think we should plan a really kick-butt Holiday Craft Workshop as well as a rockin’ Holiday Party! Please visit this section of the forumto vote on the format for those events!

Again thank you to all who volunteered, we hope we can count on you for next year as well! You are what makes this group special!

Much love,
Amber

I'd like to reiterate Amber's thanks.

I appreciate everyone's help in offering to pitch sponsorships, pass out fliers and send out e-mails. You guys are awesome and we'll definitely need your excitement and expertise next year for Handmade Parade 2009.

All that being said, I'm looking forward to a great holiday party and workshop!
